This is the city that I love. It is my Wellington-by-the-Sea, surrounding a beautiful deep-water harbour that has seen a tapestry of New Zealand history roll out along its shoreline and amongst its hills. Buried among the buildings of the city are many historic trails and localities which have witnessed those momentous and common-place events that make up the life of the city.

Situated along the seaward side of Frank Kitts Park, on the Wellington waterfront, is a series of 10 brass plaques. These plaques commemorate events in history associated with Wellington and Wellington Harbour. Series 2 in our tales of Wellington City relates the stories behind each of these plaques and continues our ramble through the Capital City of New Zealand.
